Directions to format DOS
Be sure you get a bootable floppy disc or CD.
Insert the disc into the PC, and turn it along. The computer will boot to a black screen showing simply an "A:>" prompt or a prompt indicating the letter of the drive you booted from. You can also accomplish this by booting your computer with the disc in the drive.
Typecast "format c: /s" and hit "Enter." The formatting action will start.
Shot "Y" on the keyboard for "Yes" when asked "Are you positive you wish to erase everything along drive c:," and then press out "Enter."
Remove the disc, and reboot your computer. It will boot to the "C:>" prompt from the hard disc.
